Let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE when artists do free meet-ups/concerts for their fans. I feel like it's such an awesome bonding experience - for the fans and for the artist! Even if there's a pretty big crowd, the performance still feels intimate - does that make sense? The most recent musician to do this was the insanely talented 19-year-old (I know, NINETEEN!) Scottish singer/songwriter, Nina Nesbitt. She was in New York City to be a part of Scotland Week! The spring weather was absolutely beautiful - making it the most perfect Sunday to listen to some great music outdoors. If you haven't heard of her, please do yourself a favor and look her up! Trust me, your ears will thank you! I took my friend along with me and she became a "nesbian" right after the first song. It's so exciting to see the power of music and how it spreads among people, connecting everyone! Nina's got this indie folk/rock/pop vibe to her (it makes sense once you listen to her). Her single, "Stay Out" became her first top 40 hit, peaking at #21 on the UK charts! She's definitely making way in the US, she even performed at this year's SXSW! P.S She brought in a pretty huge crowd to hear her sing at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park! I mean, I'd call that a huge success. You can follow her on Twitter (@ninanesbitt) and Instagram (@ninanesbitt) where she posts some pretty awesome pictures from her travels, music, day to day life, etc! After her performance, Nina stuck around and took pictures/signed autographs for every fan that was there for her. Um, how freaking sweet/amazing is that?! It's so refreshing to see an artist genuinely love their fans! She was incredibly sweet - and gorgeous in person! She signed some phone cases, albums, t-shirts, and even someone's arm! All in all, she's a great performer and I'm excited to see her do big things. Check out the pics/footage!P.S, for all you foodies out there, after a walk in Central Park, nothing beats getting macarons from MacarOn Cafe on W 36th! It's a must-have, so be sure to get out there and get some!
